  1. [ubuntu] Re: Screensaver causes computer to freeze after upgrading from Jaunty 9.04 to Karmic

Well...turning off the screensaver is one way of fixing a crappy screensaver. All the same...noting the previous comment about not wanting to have to revert to 9.04...

    BUMP.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Screensaver causes computer to freeze after upgrading from Jaunty 9.04 to Karmic

    BUMP.

Sorry - this is poor netiquette. I'm only doing it because I think this has a simple solution: Open Terminal and use CL to set the screensaver to something other than Fedback.

    Can...

    Re: anybody happy with karmic?

I loved it for half an hour - despite the first thing I had to do being to change a bright pink wallpaper that it gave me.

  4. [ubuntu] Workaround: Setting screensaver by Terminal?

In another thread, various people (including me) have mentioned that we have trouble with the 'Feedback' screensaver. If you select it in the dialog box, it locks up the screen. And it locks when...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Screensaver causes computer to freeze after upgrading from Jaunty 9.04 to Karmic

Same problem, and only with the Feedback screensaver.

However...I can't use the Screensaver dialog box to de-select Feedback. It freezes as soon as I bring up the dialog box with Feedback...

    [ubuntu] iPod backups?

Do any of the mainstream iPod managers/ media players let you back up the contents of your iPod to HDD, also copying metada data with them?

  7. [ubuntu] Won't install on 2nd HDD. Stuck in an endless loop!

I'm returning to Ubuntu after an absence. It's looking much improved...except I can't install.

I have 2 HDDs. One has an XP installation, the other is empty. That's where I want to install.

Re: HOW-TO iPod with (Ubuntu) Linux

I was wrong. Now it displays my database in about a minute. Before it was over an hour. But it still crashes every five albums or so.

    Poll: Re: Opera vs Firefox

What (if any) configuration is needed to get Opera to handle on-page media? With Firefox in Ubuntu, you have to add various plugins. Is there a HowTo for Opera?
