  1. [ubuntu] Lenovo S10 Wireless (broadcom STA driver) - odd with WPA

I've got 9.10 on my S10, and it works well. But I've just connected to a WPA secured network, and althought I connected ok, and I can even connect to the routers web interface, and ping google.com...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Upgraded to Karmic - rawstudio only works as root.

It turns out it's a bug of some sort, open gconf-editor (run 'gconf-editor' in a terminal) and find the rawstudio entries, remove them, try again.

    Worked for me!
  3. [ubuntu] Upgraded to Karmic - rawstudio only works as root.

Just upgraded to Karmic and installed rawstudio.

Now if I run it, it crashes:

    musther@dominus:~$ rawstudio
    Segmentation fault (core dumped)

But it runs fine as root.

[ubuntu] Re: Wifi driver causes system freeze

My machine has been on for over four days now, with no crash, so at least for my setup, I seem to have sorted it.

Right click on the network icon in the notification area and select 'Connection...

[ubuntu] Re: Wifi driver causes system freeze

Same problem with same wifi driver and an ASUS motherboard (GA-EG31MF-S2). My problem was the intermittent freeze, not fail on boot. I've just installed the backport modules, will see if it makes...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Complete system freeze - random - no trace in logs - not hardware - help please!

I looked at that bug with interest, but I'm running kernel 2.6.28-15.

I've been ploughing through my logs, and there's nothing happening even close to the crash time, but eventually I found my way...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Complete system freeze - random - no trace in logs - not hardware - help please!

Never heard of it before, will let you know at next crash. Cheers
  8. [ubuntu] Complete system freeze - random - no trace in logs - not hardware - help please!

My system keeps randomly freezing (complete freeze, forcing hard reset) - doesn't happen in other operating systems etc, so not hardware, hardware thoroughly tested. No entries in logs at the time...
  9. [ubuntu] Complete sys freeze - help with logs please.

I've recently got a new computer, and am all of a sudden experiencing complete system freezes. Sometimes I'm browsing the web, sometimes I'm not even at the machine, no input, screen frozen in...

  11. You like physics based puzzel games? - Calling devs for my latest project

Have you heard of a game called Crayon Physics, or the flash implementation, Magic Pen (try it):

I think it's an absolutely awesome game, and...
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Internal and external mics work in vol control - neither work in skype

    CONFIRMED!

Using the newer version of alsa (by doing the upgrade linked to in the above post) you get full use of the HDA soundcard in the S10 - that means that both the internal and external mic...
  13. [ubuntu] Internal and external mics work in vol control - neither work in skype

I have a Lenovo Ideapad S10, recently installed 9.04 on it.

Both the internal mic, and external mic (socket) show up in the gnome-volume-control. When I unmute them (the default state) and move...

[ubuntu] Can't access partition table on disk

I was having some issues with my netbook, so I booted using a bootable image on a USB drive. I opened GParted, selected the internal disk's partition and hit 'check', then apply. Fsck began to run...

[ubuntu] Re: VLC - initially dodgy video, then plays fine.

My problem is on 0.9.4, but I have the same problem when trying 0.9.8a. Somebody on the VLC forums said it was fixed in 1.0.0?

[ubuntu] Re: VLC - initially dodgy video, then plays fine.

Yes, have tried the 0.9.8a build, still the same issue. I know it's a VLC problem, but I was hoping that we could identify the problem, then maybe it will be fixed for the final release. I mean, I...

Don't have any problem in totem, same videos play fine. I'm getting this terminal output:

[ubuntu] Re: VLC - initially dodgy video, then plays fine.

No, not my hardware either, and I've tried turning overlay off, no effect.

I noticed that if I just wait, it works after a while too, maybe 3 or 4 seconds.

So, I was wondering if it was the...

I quite like the simplicity of gmrun, but I have to admit, gnome-do is very impressive. One question though, I've installed a couple of plugins in gnome-do,...

[ubuntu] Re: screenlets on desktop AND widget layer?

I know I can have two clocks, but that seems like an convoluted way...
