Can we see /etc/samba/smb.conf?
You would probably be better off logging in with SSH - but you need to do this as a "normal" user and then su (or better, sudo) for root-access.

Seems ok...
Sorry to ask, but you did restart Samba?
Have you done anything to tweak the network settings on the Win-clients, ie. tcp window size? Yeah, I know they work fine on everything else,...
Easy, partner :)
Can you ftp? Test that.
Then, what does your /etc/samba/smb.conf say - especially under the "########### MISC ###########" section header.
TCP_NODELAY should be set on IMHO and...
All of it, to be on the safe side :)
Or did the above (wicd) help?
Output from dmesg and lsmod?
I've never heard of a multi-IP VPS that didn't come with factory setup nic's... Sorry to say, but what you're trying to achieve eludes me. Why can't you use the existing ip/nic with Bind?
/Kasper
That's ok but not really related to getting Bind to run (as such) - authorative is more a kind of prioritization of DNS'
Have to ask again, then... is your nameserver going to be public?
/Kasper
Yup. Then your DNS only answers local requests.
/Kasper
What do you want to achieve? Bind doesn't need vlan to run :)
Set Bind to listen to localhost if you don't want to serve external requests.

Two things...
a) what does /var/log/syslog say?
b) I vaguely recall slow login being caused by nameserver-lookup-error - is client machine ipadress in servers hosts-file?
/Kasper
A soft start would be to use Midnight Commander (sudo apg-get install mc) and get a good feel for your folder structure.
MC has some nice builtin tools for moving files, directories and much more....
Can you "telnet <server2> 25" from <server1> and get a response?
/Kasper
My keyboard stopped working after upgrading as well.

The services you mention are quite different by nature - think you'll get more answers if you could be much more specific.
Not to put you down but I'm surely not the only one confused as to what you...
So, these are the AP's you can see - which is yours? If it's "@home" then try:
$ iwconfig wlan0 essid @home
$ iwconfig wlan0 key C0AD-9DDC-5AFD-BC8B-AA46-CAE5-98
$ dhclient wlan0
Should work...
I took out the -d directory parameter and then it worked...
