Itchy Iguana sounds like it would be the distro name
Impatient Imp sounds more like the would-be user name :)
Since Dapper is still the only 'long-term-support' version of Ubuntu, how about a forum category for Dapper-specific support issues? Heck, Gutsy has its own support category - and its not even...

Ping-o-matic's service name is the source of the confusion. They don't actually 'ping' the search engines, in the same way as
ping -c1 www.google.com
does. That would achieve little except...
There has been no posts in News and Announcements for the past two weeks worth of auto-updates. Has Canonical decided to stop informing us when packages change, or is it just that someone forgot?

According to 'man memcpy'...
Reading your code, I see the memory areas definitely overlap.
The logic of your program seems to depend on which bytes are copied first:

My printer is the Canon PIXMA iP8500, and your instructions are great!!!

This doesn't do recursive, but you can supply the directory you want to rename, and keep doing it until you get no more output.

The only thing I would worry about is whether your graphics is up to speed with the new games. If its a problem, on most games you can trade off detail for FPS.

Yes, for me last few days the forum seems to hang for a long time about 10% of the time. I don't know if its 'growing pains' or what, but it is site-related.

Did I mention that BIG programs eat a lot of hard disk space?
That's what got me hooked too... Ubuntu support actually WORKS. After awhile, you get the hang of it too...
I tried KDE on Knoppix, but it was Ubuntu's Gnome that sold me on Ubuntu. (I had some prior experience with Gnome on a FC2 box but Ubuntu is way better)
I have several older machines that are too...
Thanks for all your gaming and gnome links, I'll check them out.
Going slow and staying dual boot for awhile is the only way forward for me.
As far as any linux being 'ready for the desktop'...
After getting tired of seeing perfectly good gaming computers being obsoleted due to forced upgrades of OS, I decided I *had* to try to see what Linux could offer.
