I thought this discussion was about Pixel and not about gimp. I think pixel looks promicing. especially since it works with 16-bit images and color management (well gimp 2.4 will work with CM as well)

R-commander is in the Breezy-repositories as well as R 2.1. I have installed them. I haven't yet managed to start rcmdr though

Backports are in a "staging" repository at first and when it's been tested and known to work it get into the usual backport repository.
