[ubuntu] Re: CDRecord Error With k3B

Have you tried simply adding the user to burn the cd to the "disk" group?

    sudo useradd -G disk your_username

[ubuntu] Re: seeking backup solution a monkey could use

Nothing at the moment ;) I just hope my computer lasts until I find the ultimate backup tool [-o<

That was partly a joke. I haven't had anything to backup since slbackup messed up my last backup,...

[all variants] Re: Can SBackup Just be left alone?

You can leave it running, but make sure that the backup file is valid after sbackup has finished - open the tarball with file-roller and see if it's readable:

    Re: Back-up

While Sbackup has a fine control panel and useful options, it is not technically ready for use (I found out the wrong way):

[ubuntu] Re: seeking backup solution a monkey could use

It has a very useful GUI and options, but unfortunately, it can ruin your backups without telling you:

    That happened to me...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Sbackup files not showing up on backup drive

    A small, but important question:

Are you certain that your external disk isn't formatted as VFAT or FAT? If that is the case, you are in real danger of losing your data... Sbackup can make files...

Re: The "defend your signature" thread

Ah. Subtle cross-referencing there: Referring to your avatar in your signature.

My new signature (signature instability alert!) is just a boring reference to one of my interests, but I'm trying it...

Good one. I'm actually beginning to grow a bit tired of it, having seen it too many times now.

How now! Calm down. You don't have to care if your signature bothers anybody, the meaning of this thread is to have fun with it. We are lucky enough to be able to spend time on unimportant things -...

Whatever is under the line at the bottom of all your posts. You set your signature in your ubuntuforums control panel, and then you come here and make fun of your own and other's signatures. :p

    The "defend your signature" thread

A lot of people here use signatures. These should be well thought out, as your signature shows on every post you make.
Even so, people often have (to me) strange, unintelligible or plain stupid...
