Yes, theres been posts about the mono backports months ago, they are being tested and such but i havent seen any word of progress (which would be nice).
Do you have the glib development package installed?
Its on dapper, and in breezy we have version 3.81, so i was wondering if we can get it as a backport? or maybe we can just wait till dapper gets the newer version?
mstlyevil, its not about that... its about WoW using Direct3D and optimized for it... and yes, they are differences between d3d and OpenGL.

Did you followed the wiki step-by-step? thats usually mean your wine didnt got compiled with X support (happened to me too).
Did you run it with the --opengl switch?
wine wow.exe --opengl

I agree with aysiu. When you have the chance next time, try googling all the hardware and make sure its supported by linux, and that it works in ubuntu. You will see, when things work 100% alright,...

I can only run it with the --opengl option :/ otherwise it will crash. Ive found some other posts here regarding how ATI drivers sucks and games with the same problem i have (guild wars).
Tell me if WoW runs for you, because i can get it running but i get missing textures and stuff, probably ATI's fault... :/
