KDE4 is really stable right now. Konqueror doesn't crash anymore and Kopete actually works. Plasma sometimes dies here or there, but it'll auto-restart itself and you won't lose any data in the...
Got more accomplished on my Xbox Live Gamercard plasmoid :D. Click for my desktop.. Still using KDE4, same details as my shot on the last page.

I think he found the irony in the fact Miguel de Icaza wanted an open platform and he's working toward the opposite. I do agree KDE and Gnome are both just as open today so that really isn't an...
I strongly recommend converting the image to virtualbox and using that. Qemu is nice because it's open, but Virtualbox is much faster. I booted the image in 1/4 the time with virtualbox. It's a cool...
I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but I remember reading something funny about kde and gnome (on OSnews I think, sorry whoever wrote this). But to summarize what they said:
Back in the...
There's an ubuntu thread on it right now.

Basically follow the Kubuntu section here (use apt-get instead of aptitude if on Ubuntu):...
It's a pretty awesome DE and everything works great. The applications are pretty crashy right now (Konqueror, Kopete, Kmail specifically), but I use Firefox and Gmail for email so that's not an issue...

I followed the guide here for Kubuntu (even though I'm using Ubuntu)
http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/KDE4#Kubuntu_and_Debian
Then you use kdesvn-build to compile kde4...

After compiling for 10 hours I finally have KDE4 up and running via the latest SVN. It looks amazing, can't wait until more apps get ported over. :D...
I've been a Gnome user for the past 5 years and never run qt apps. Before my Gnome days I used to use KDE and I tried 3.5.xx releases in the past. For as configurable as KDE is I couldn't get a clean...

I personally think KDE4 is being overhyped, but that's just me. It's also not a bad thing because it's generating hype and attention about opensource in general. I can't wait to give things a try,...
I'd love to read the list of these patents as said earlier. Lucky this won't hurt the Novell Linux users at all due to their signing with the devil. I'm disappointed that the Gnome team agreed to...
sudo apt-get install rpm

This is the only way I know to get this theme. It's basically just gray folder icons and inherits the rest of the Tango theme.

if this link goes down browse to this directory and download the gnome-themes...

I personally found things to be more simplified in 2.0. Instead of using a separate window for away messages, it's built into the buddy list. That means there's no more separate unminimizable away...
Can someone post an updated deb, andrek's version is slightly dated and there's a bug with the idle time, there's no option to base it off X (mouse movement). I don't want a bijillion source deps...
Yea I'd love to see Dell start shipping Ubuntu as their choice of Linux. There's been a lot of news about Michael Dell trying Ubuntu so hopefully that influences his decision. Hopefully they don't...
Yea it's the new pidgin theme. Someone posted a deb for pidgin in this thread here if you want to give it a spin:

Post a screenshot. I want to see what your desktop looks like.
EDIT: Aha. Slightly similar I guess :P.
