i have this error when i want to install again vmware server not the virtual OS
I have /dev/hda1 with Ubuntu on it, /dev/hda2 with swap, /dev/hda3 with NTFS Windows XP on it. Loaded up hda3 in VMWare, and when I start it, I get a ERROR 17 in GRUB. Any advice? Thanks!
I edit this since I found a good keyword for my search and fixed my error by apt-getting xlibs-dev.
Now, a question: Can vmware be runned without X? I mean why should X be needed for a daemon. From what I can understand from the howto you are bound to a graphical interface. I hope there is another way.

What happened to this issue ??
I've got basically the same problems and I cannot find any cures.
#1 problem: How can I move files between UBUNTU host and Win98 Guest ?? Seems to me this would be one of the main reasons for running a VM and there ought to be a way.
i simply made a share folder in my ubuntu, and axs it via the network in the windowsXP i installed in vmware. pretty simple --hope this helps.#1 problem: How can I move files between UBUNTU host and Win98 Guest ?? Hallo
I've VERY recently begun using Ubuntu (I installed Dapper Drake two days ago!!), and want to install VMware server. I'm having trouble during the installation.
I think its to do with the installation of the linux-headers.
>sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` build-essential xinetd
>Reading package lists... Done
>Building dependency tree... Done
>E: Couldn't find package linux-headers-2.6.15-21-386
help
What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.15-23-386/include
The directory of kernel headers (version 2.6.15-23-386) does not match your
running kernel (version 2.6.15-26-386). Even if the module were to compile
successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.
Can anyone help me with this ? Thanks...
