    Thumbs down BUMPS Development Thread

Welcome to the Official BUMPS Development Thread!

I'm primarily going to be using this to post new releases and, if anyone is so inclined, discuss what I'm doing in terms of developing BUMPS.

Check the introductory thread for more details on BUMPS.

The current release is version 2.0. The changelog for that release is below.
    2.0
    - Aw, hell. It's a total rewrite. I'm not even gonna bother with describing the changes. Don't expect to customize your package list anymore, though, and be happy that it now works on Edgy Eft! Xubuntu/Kubuntu support currently gone, expect it back later.
    1.3
    - Added: Xubuntu Support
    - Kubuntu: Removed mplayer and mozilla-mplayer from the default install, still possible to install it for those who prefer it.
    - Kubuntu: irrevocably remover gstreamer packages
    1.251
-Added: 'DEBIAN_FRONTEND=gnome' to beginning of install commands- any licensing stuff is displayed via gnome
    -Added: Descriptions to custom packages
-Moved: Sources.list.backup to /etc/apt instead of BUMPS directory
    1.25
-Fixed: Repository type- Etch was too new. Using Sarge repo now
-Removed: Package 'mjpegtools'- reason? Not useful
    -Replaced: Package 'flashplugin-nonfree' with 'flashplayer-mozilla'
-Added: Takis Reository- under assurances from adamkane that it *will* work
-Changed: From gnome-terminal and konsole to xterm- kudos to Fedora Frog for the idea
-Added: Ability to detect if BUMPS has crashed, offer to replace sources.list if so.
    1.1
    -Added: Package 'vobcopy'
-Changed: Kubuntu execution command so it opens in Konsole
-Removed: Accidental inclusion of totem-xine-firefox plugin in custom Kubuntu options
-Added: Option to install NVIDIA or ATI drivers
    -Removed: Redundant function "restoresources". Doh!
    There you go!

Sounds like a awesome idea, may I suggest using http://bountysource.com for your project? I use bountysource for ubuntucenter and it works great it has a bug tracker and a bunch more stuff.

Sounds cool! Right now, BUMPS is small enough that I'm comfortable managing it via my own twisted head, but if it gets larger, that could be really useful. Thanks!

I have a question for people:

Would it be useful if I included NVIDIA/ATI drivers from the repositories?

I think that would be a great idea. As a new Ubuntu user I've been debating whether to use Automatix or Easy Ubuntu. Then I found BUMPS, I really like the minimalistic aim of it. I'm more of a basics person myself, some of the competitors are a little too bloated for my taste. I'd just like to thank you for taking the time to create and maintain this program.

Such changes being...? Do you mean the packages installed? Or sources.list?

And, I'm just curious here, why do you want to undo the changes BUMPS has made?
