When typing text in gimp 2.4 the text spills off the side of the screen. I'd like to limit the size to a given area and if necessary change that areas size and have the text re align to fit the new text box.
Any ideas how?

I don't think you can. You could always use the magic enter button though to limit it yourself.

That's a surprise as its a real hassle when desinging a website. It's pretty common to chuck some text onto the page then see how it looks with a graphic and aligned text. Different sizes and then taking it out all together. In gimp would I really have to re line break my text for every change? Man that sounds tedious
I'm trying to do a fully gimped design after being a P$ user for many years. Picking up the corner of a text area is a simple way to resize the text box layout.
What is the magic button?
The magic button is enter.

So it won't read my every thought and make my every wish come true?
Damm.
Ya i kinda wish Gimp would do that also...oh well. Maybe they will add that in a future version of it.
I use gimp for photo editing a lot. I even wrote a gimp book goingmanual.com But for web design this is a bit of a deal breaker. It's a tedious task that isn't in P$. I was hoping not to have to deal with wine or virtualiseation and certainly not dual boot. Ah ell, like you say maybe one day
