    For anyone who runs conky in a window:
    Install devislpie *aptitude install devilspie*
    put in your .devilspie.xml:
    Code:
    <devilspie>
    <flurb name="Conky pinned and no taskbar">
        <matchers>
           <matcher name="DevilsPieMatcherWindowName">
             <property name="application_name" value="conky"/>
           </matcher>
        </matchers>
    <!-- The action below will pin Eterm to all workspaces-->
         <actions>
             <action name="DevilsPieActionSetWorkspace">
                <property name="pinned" value="TRUE"/>
          </action>
    <!-- The action below will remove Eterm from the windows list and the Workspace Switcher (thanks Trash:)-->
          <action name="DevilsPieActionHide">
            <property name="skip_tasklist" value="TRUE"/>
            <property name="skip_pager" value="TRUE"/>
          </action>
          <action name="DevilsPieActionLayer">
    	<property name="above" value="FALSE"/>
          </action>
         </actions>
    </flurb>
    </devilspie>
    This is the same as when you would like to install a transparent terminal to your desktop

    Hello iced-tux,

    I run conky in window mode (because it flickers otherwise even with the load dbe in my xorg.conf). However, i use the show desktop button a lot and it hides conky as well. Is there anyway to fix this? I tried using devilspie but it still hides conky.

    How do i get hdd_temp to work ? Can anyone type the right code. I've installed hddtemp package, and got it to work in the gnome bar. But i want it in conky of course.

    Im not sure about the variable.

    How can this be solved ?

    From version 0.13 devilspie has completly different customed configuration.
    I compiled form source of 0.16 version and I made a file which I inserted in my ~/.devilspie directory named conky.ds like this:

    Code:
    (if (is (window_class) "conky") (begin undecorate skip_tasklist skip_pager))
    and conky was gone from my taskbar.
    More details to customize devil's pie you may find here

    Benplaut,

    I PMed that question to him and this is his response:

    If I use that desktop clearance my conky disapear completly from destop even after the next click of recover. If you are talking about taskbar ...after desktop recoverance...I get my conky in the bar but after first click it disappear from it.
    So I'm taking that as a yes? The language is a little unclear.

    The main goal of devilspie is to hide a program from taskbar...
    I'm not really sure what you are asking about that desktop button..you mean to make conky visible in window or in taskbar?..
    I do not use taskbar applet from kicker right now and I can't help you much...
    Compile the new devil's pie and do what suggest above...and see the result.

    btw: i'm a she..
