So, any chance this (what I am assuming here is non-arch dependant issue) can become non-arch dependant? I'm running AMD64 here, and can't install the i386 file.

There's one change I would make based on my following of the HOWTO. After adding "usr/plugins" in qtconfig, I had to choose File > Save before Polymer would show up in the drop-down menu.
