Ubuntu Video - Share Your Ubuntu With The World

    From http://www.ubuntuvideo.com :

Ubuntu Video showcases the best Ubuntu Linux videos on the Internet, encourages Ubuntu Linux users to record their own videos, and gives them the information they need start production. It’s time to show Windows and Mac users what they’re missing.
I watched the "Adventures in Linux - Episode 1 - Ubuntu" it's kinda funy .

I blogged about this here :
    http://ubuntudemon.wordpress.com/200...ith-the-world/

It's also on the digg here :

    Thanks!

I've added Ubuntu Video to the Marketing Team projects wiki, If anyone wants to help out with the project check out the "How can I help?" section.

Is it a good thing that in order to see the videos we have to rely on closed source software?

The videos are those that have been uploaded by Ubuntu users to services such as YouTube and Google. They services make the videos available to stream with Flash. If I want to stream them - share them with the vast majority of web surfers who can watch them - I have to use the tools those services provide.

Can you provide a FOSS, and video hosting, alternative?

Course not, what you're doing is a great thing overall. It's only that having to rely on flash is a pity.

Re: Ubuntu Video - Share Your Ubuntu With The World

    Agreed.

A couple of Ubuntu team members have mentioned that they would like to work on something like a Ubuntu specific YouTube alternative. I'd like to see it happen but I'll use whatever is available until then.

I could just link to videos but I don't think that's nearly as compelling, or user friendly, as having them embedded.

johnwlittle maybe you could add the "Experience ubuntu.ogg" with Nelson Mandela from the Examples dir. I don't know whether this is easily possible. IMHO it's a great video.

On a related note : I would also like to see that video on http://www.legaltorrents.com/index.htm

Re: Ubuntu Video - Share Your Ubuntu With The World

    Dear "ubuntu_daemon",

    Thanks for the link:

    http://www.ubuntuvideo.com

I tried to watch the first Video in the above site, but unfortunately, even though the video was coming out fine, the audio was coming out "crappy"...

Too many "pauses" came out in between every word spoken...

I have an ADSL 384K speed connection.

I think that, to be able to watch the above Video, maybe a faster ADSL connection is required...

Has anybody tried watching it with an ADSL 512K speed?

    Just wondering...

    Thanks.
