    Question GP2X anyone?

    Hi,
    Does anyone own a GP2X?
It's a Linux based hand held similar to the PSP.
I have a PSP and am sick of the firmware locking out the ability to play homebrew/emulators etc. I am seriously considering buying the GP2X as it's main target customers seem to be homebrew/emulators/linux apps.

If you've got one is it any good?

This is the official UK site for the GP2X :

He has just done a review with a video clip download available (in wmv format!! ...tsk) and the video looks very nice indeed.

I actually considered buying one. I ended up going with a tapwave zodiac which has much larger screen and an excellent homebrew thanks to ljp. Aside from the small screen I understand battery life is an issue with the GP2X at present. It definitely (definitely) holds promise, I'm just not ready to invest yet.

Also, you can find zodiacs rather cheap (100 or 150usd) as Tapwave went under last July.

I don't own one myself but i was seriously considering buying one, especially since it now has wifi according to the website.

Movies, music, games, updatable firmware, linux, an active community.

For homebrew games, apps and such visit - http://www.emuboards.com/invision/in...portal&news=63

That is all news for gp2x

Only thing stopping me is batteries, i would prefer a rechargable battery pack, even as something you have to buy seperate.

The updated v2 of the GP2X seems to have fixed a few niggles with the first batch.

On a sidenote, you do realize that it's not exactly mandatory that you install the latest firmware updates...

Yeah i'm still on 1.5 but the system is improving with firmwares only I can't install them or I will lose homebrew!

Plus new games require new firmware to work
