    Let's share our themes

I think we could share the way we make our desktops look so nice.
The idea is that every post should contain some screenshots of our desktops and the settings we used to achieve this eye-candy. For example one could send information about: control theme, Metacity theme, icons, wallpaper, splash screen (maybe also the background color code), gdm theme, gDesklets used, other apps skins (like bmp, xmms, mplayer, etc.) and whatever else he tweaked. The best thing would be to send a link for each of this elements.

So, let me begin with my current theme.

    Controls: d3a
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=15963

    Metacity: Glossy-P
    Icon set: Glossy Glass
    both are on
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=27166

    Wallpaper: Ubuntu Style (Ice)
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=33164

Mouse cursor: Lil' polar (although you don't see it in the screenshots)
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=31480

    Splash: GlossyGlass
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=21751

    GDM theme: Avio-GDM
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=37395

    gDesklets: StarterBar and SideCandy time
these are in the package gdesklets-data in the repos

    BMP skin: Gentoo-Ice
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=14049

    mplayer skin: New Age
    http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/skin...ge-1.0.tar.bz2

Other: the terminal has fake tranparencies and is launched with the command
    Code:
    gnome-terminal --geometry=75x25+350+205
so that it doesn't cover anything.

Let's try not to discuss themes here, just show how to make them!

PS If this idea gets enough feedback, the post could be made sticky.

looks nice, I'm not using Ubuntu just yet, I'll be using dapper when it comes out, and I'll be going crazy with the themes .

your theme looks good and well balanced - the wallpaper colours, icons, and gtk theme look in harmony with each other.

Well, having grown to love my new iMac, I've gotten used to the interface of it and found myself wishing my Dapper looked a little more like my Tiger... I've not done a lot of customization, but it suits my needs and looks nice to me!

I don't like this theme very much, but I just wanted to try how a completely brushed desktop would be. At least, nobody can complain that it is not coherent!

    Widgets: Brushed
    Metacity: Brushed
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=32510

    Icons: Noia Warm
    http://art.gnome.org/themes/icon/414

    Wallpaper: Gnome Finest
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=39029

    gDesklets: StarterBar and TuxClock
these are in the package gdesklets-data in the repos

    BMP skin: XTunes
    http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/xtunes/

    mplayer skin: OSX Brushed
    http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

    Firefox: Noia 2.0
    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/72/

    aMSN: BrushedMetal
    http://amsn.sourceforge.net/skins.php

If you really want a fully brushed (but bad-looking IMHO) desktop, you may consider to use the brushed wallpaper
    http://www.gnome-look.org/content/sh...?content=39141

I chose the Noia icons because Firefox has a really nice brushed theme with Noia icons.

You easily guess how the not displayed apps look like.
